About
Our Mission:
To grow the participation and reputation of diving in SA as a challenging, fun, healthy, and inclusive sport, while encouraging personal development, growth, and achievement for everyone involved.
Diving SA (DSA) is the only diving club in South Australia, and is also the State's representative association. DSA is a member of Diving Australia Incorporated (DA) which is the national representative body. DSA is a not-for-profit organisation, operated by a Board of Management, run mostly by volunteers.
DSA has approximately 250 active members, the majority of which are from 7 to 18 years of age. Depending on their enthusiasm and skill level, divers train between 1 and 6 sessions per week for between 45 minutes to 2.5 hours per session. DSA runs programs exclusively at the South Australian Aquatic & Leisure Centre (SAALC) Marion, which is where our office is located and where we hold our State competitions.
DSA receives much support. At National level, the support comes from Diving Australia, which is supported by the Australian Government, through the Australian Sports Commission and the Australian Institute of Sport, as well as The Australian Commonwealth Games Association and Australian Olympic Committee. At State level, DSA is supported by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) and the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI). Historically, DSA has a strong working relationship with SASI.
DSA encourages participation in the sport of diving generally. In other words, we encourage 'recreational' diving (for those not particularly interested in competition), as well as providing pathways for the talented and elite.
Diving is an excellent sport for people of all ages, naturally providing them with the benefits of physical fitness, and, as various studies have demonstrated, diving is the perfect sport for building confidence, as it takes you through a measured and monitored progression of harder and harder dives over time, from higher and higher boards and platforms. Progression is the key term here as we always adhere to strict safety protocols to ensure our divers have the very best personal experiences while challenging their comfort zones!
The confidence that diving creates and builds in children and adults, then provides them with the ability, and the capacity, to take on the risks, and meet the challenges, that life throws at them - whether in school, in social interactions with peers, family and friends, or in other aspects of their lives.
